Synopsis
Elf – The Musical is the hilarious and heartwarming story of Buddy. After crawling into Santa’s sack of presents as a baby, he has spent his whole life training to be one of the North Pole’s best helpers. Buddy was raised by his adoptive father, Papa Elf, to be a proud member of the community – even if he is extremely tall, extremely clumsy and extremely enthusiastic. But one day, he discovers something shocking: Buddy is actually a human! As he sets off on a thrilling journey of self-discovery in the Big Apple, can he find his family and remind everyone of the true meaning and spirit of Christmas? This musical production of Elf is based on the 2003 hit movie starring Will Ferrell. Expect to be swept away with sets that are sparklier than tinsel, feel-good songs, and a funny, heartwarming story to get you in the spirit for the most wonderful time of the year.
“Fantastically funny and frankly fizzing with festive cheer” – Culture Bean

History & Awards
Elf is returning to Broadway after sprinkling some Christmas cheer over West End audiences in London, and this show is ready to capture even the most cynical New York hearts! Following two incredibly successful, record-breaking seasons in West End in 2022 and 2023, this sparkling production of Elf The Musical will be new to Broadway and will mark the show’s return for the first time in more than a decade. Originally opening on Broadway in 2010, Elf – The Musical is back in New York City for its fourth encore with performances that will run from 9 November 2024 to 4 January 2025, with an opening night set for November 17.
Following the 2010-2011 original Broadway engagement, the show returned for a 2012-2013 Christmas engagement with a revised book. Casey Nicholaw directed both runs. The upcoming production was first staged at London’s Dominion Theatre and became the venue’s fastest-selling show in almost a century. In fact, the musical returned the following season and broke its own box office records set during the previous year’s engagement.
Adapted from the 2003 New Line Cinema film, which starred Will Ferrell Zooey Deschanel and James Caan, Elf grossed more than a whopping $250 million dollars worldwide and has since become a holiday viewing staple.
Review
“Simon Lipkin knocks it out of the park. There are shades of Will Ferrell in his performance, but he brings an innocence that feels distinct. He tempers what could easily be an annoyingly consistent optimism with some killer line deliveries. He never descends into saccharine. Meanwhile, as Walter, Tom Chambers is grumpy and overworked rather than a full Scrooge. It lends a welcome trace of reality to the show’s otherwise cartoon altitude. Elsewhere, in a show largely focused on male relationships, Rebecca Lock and Georgina Castle still make their characters spark as Walter’s wife, Emily, and Buddy’s would-be girlfriend, Jovie, respectively. And Kim Ismay, as Walter’s assistant, Deb, pretty much steals every scene she’s in.” – Time Out London
